PATTANI, Oct 21 — Thirteen bombs were set off by suspected militants while three were defused by security forces over a period of 11 hours from 7.30pm yesterday in Pattani, according to police.

The police did not receive any report of death or injury as a result of the explosions which targeted the towns of Napradu and Khokpo in the Khokpo district, said Khokpo Police chief Police Col Uthai Thipsepa.

Eight bombs were set off in seven places in Khokpo town while three were defused, he said, adding that the five other bombs were set off in Napradu town.

All the 2kg bombs were triggered to go off by mobile telephones, he said.

Pattani Provincial Police assistant chief Police Col Prappal Mimongkhon said the bomb attacks were well planned and masterminded by the militants in Khokpo. — Bernama
