NARATHIWAT — Two houses were damaged and a woman slightly wounded by a bomb explosion in Rueso district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The bomb was hidden inside trash can near a house and went off about 6.50am in Moo 10 village in tambon Rueso.

The blast caused damage to two houses, one belonging to a 65-year-old disabled woman, Norida Waening, and the other to Ampai Detmaneerat, 63, a former teacher of Ban Yaba School.  A woman identified only as Om was slightly injured. She was admitted to Rueso Hospital.

The explosion scattered debris around the area.

Witnesses told police they saw two youths drop a black plastic bag into the trash can earlier on Tuesday morning. The explosion occurred about one hour later.

Today is the third anniversary of an incident in which Pol Gen Jakrit Wongprommes, and three of his subordinates were killed by a bomb explosion in Rueso district on March 15, 2013.
